
Marina Kocareva Ranisavljev (born in Ohrid, Macedonia) after finishing the High School of Architecture and Technology (Belgrade), she graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade (1991), Department of Costume, where she also received her master’s degree (1999). Marina defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Postmodern Tendencies in the Fashion Industry” at the Singidunum University in Belgrade (2015). From 1994 to 1997 she was a beneficiary of the Republic’s Foundation for the Development of Young Scientists and Artists. She is a member of The Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDS), since 1991) and The Association of Fine Artists of Macedonia (DLUM), since 2016. In addition to solo and group exhibitions in the country and abroad, she has worked on a number of projects in the field of fashion design and published a significant number of professional papers. Marina was employed as a Teaching assistant at FPUD in Belgrade (1994 -1997), and since 2000 she has been working as a professor and the Head of the study program „Textile and Clothing Design“ at the College of Textile Design, Technology and Management (DTM), which is now a department within the Academy of Technical and Art Applied Studies (ATUSS) in Belgrade. She also held the position of a Visiting professor at the European University in Skopje, Macedonia (2015-2018). She has been the Head of the study program “Fashion Management“ for the basic and master’s vocational studies, since 2023.
She is a member of the editorial board of the “Tekstilna industrija” (“Textile Industry”) magazine and a member of the Publishing Committee at DTM . Since 2012, she has been a member of the Organizing committee of TISO (Textiles and contemporary clothing), ULUPUDS, Belgrade, as well as numerous committees within the activities of the section. She participated in numerous international scientific and professional gatherings. She lives and works in Belgrade (Serbia), Skopje and Ohrid (Macedonia).
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
2020. The Grand Prize of the 52nd May Exhibition – the ULUPUDS Artistic Coup, for the artistic installation “Where is the Soul or the Diary of a Shirt” 2021. The artwork “Where is the Soul or Diary of a Shirt” was purchased for the collection of the Museum of Applied Arts in Belgrade 2015. Winner of the XXXVIII and XIV call of “Zadužbina Andrejević” (The Andrejević Endowment Fund) in Belgrade for a published monograph – edited doctoral thesis – in the art field – Postmodern Tendencies in the Fashon Industry, the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment, Belgrade 2013. A Plaque of Recognition from the Association of Textile Engineers and Technicians of Serbia, DTM, Belgrade 2011. The “Pavle Vasić” award for the book Fashion and Clothing (Službeni glasnik 2010) for theoretic work in the field of applied arts and design ULUPUDS (The Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia), Belgrade 2011. The annual award from ULUPUDS for creative achievements in the Textile and Modern Clothing section 2011. Third place at the call for the “Desimir Tošić” award, given by the “Službeni glasnik” publishing house, Belgrade – for the best book in the field of non-fiction (Fashion and Clothing)
